The Bargen family moved from Richmond, British Columbia to nearby Lynden, Washington, purchasing a farm with considerable timber in Sumas, Washington. A small portable sawmill was the starting point. In May 1978, founder John Bargen and his son Ted, along with their first employee Sal Biondolillo, began constructing the first building for Lynden Door. From those humble beginnings, the company has grown into one of the leading producers of residential, commercial, and architectural interior doors in the Western US and Canada.
Today, Lynden Door operates on a 52-acre site and offers nine distinct product collections spanning contemporary, modern, traditional, and specialty applications. The company holds FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification, maintains TSCA Title VI compliance for formaldehyde emissions, and has earned Indoor Advantage Gold certification. They publish both an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and a Health Product Declaration (HPD) for full transparency.
Lynden Door offers nine collections: FineLine with 10 routed designs for contemporary spaces; StileLine with wood veneer sketch face designs; ReDiscovery for luxury custom-order veneers and exotic wood; Wood Veneer for natural grains across species; Elemental with bevel grooved modern designs; Ventilated Doors for comfort and airflow; Prefinished Hardboard factory-painted with UV protection; Molded high-density fiberboard; and Laminates for limitless design diversity.
